SHIT GETS REAL IN:

2019. WELCOME TO THE BONE CRUSHER.

How far will you go? We have introduced a 55km race that incorporates 3 bone crushing loops, each with a cut off time.

We don't expect anyone to finish.

56KM

BONE CRUSHER

The bone crusher tests your mind as much as it breaks your bones. There are no friendly warm ups, no time to stretch your legs, no time to warm your blood. You will follow straight to the base of the mountain and begin the back breaking climb to the peak. Don't get too comfortable on the way back down because this is only loop 1. The Bone Crusher demands you to take the peak of the monster 3 times.

Distance: 56km   Elevation: 3217m   Altitude: 2249m

Aid Station: 1       Cut off: 10.5hrs (Total)

Cut off Loop 3: 7.5hrs

Full Medical Team on standby inc. Ambulance at base.

Date: 19 October   Start Time: 6:30am

HELL RAISER

36KM

The Hell Raiser starts you in the race village forest, leading you on a 5km route before setting you on the mountains steepest climb. A gruelling 7km climb covers 700m of elevation, leading you up to the main aid station and landing area. Your arrival will be greeted by the ringing of the Hex Bell. You are expected to gear up, warm up, and stock up before making the final ascent to the peak of the mountain which elevates you to a whopping 2249m altitude. First runner to the peak gets to blow the HELL HORN, and wins a R500 cash bonus.

Distance: 36km   Elevation: 1724m   Altitude: 2249m

Aid Station: 1    Checkpoints: 2   Cut Off: 8hrs

Full Medical Team on standby inc. Ambulance at base.

Date: 19 October   Start Time: 7:30am

24KM

DOOMSTONE

Doomstone offers no sympathy to runners taking the shorter route. Your race starts with the entrants of the Hell Raiser. You follow the same route, leading you out the forest with a loop around the base of the mountain before you begin your climb to the main aid station and landing area. If you're not going for gold, take a moment to appreciate the spectacular views and surroundings, have a pretzel and a coffee and then make your way back down the mountain via a single track . The return journey is fast and rocky, so make sure you're alert and sure footed!

Distance: 24km   Elevation: 1159m   Altitude: 1900m

Aid Station: 1       Cut Off: 5hrs

Full Medical Team on standby inc. Ambulance at base.

Date: 19 October   Start Time: 7:30am

COMPULSORY GEAR LIST

The region hosting the Hex Sky Run is aggressive in trail and rock formation, severe weather conditions (including light to heavy snow fall), cold winds, rains, and the great outdoors. Above all of this is a region that is spectacularly beautiful. Something you won't be able to enjoy if you are either dead or in critical danger. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the route is well marked and adequately covered with first aid personal and ambulance - it is also the responsibility of every runner to be as prepared as they can be. Our compulsory gear list, is a minimum requirement and we reserve the right to not allow you access onto the coarse (with no refund options) should you not have all items with you at registration.
